If you HAVE NOT been getting emails–and you do get this one, please reply, please let me know that you haven’t been before, but you are now. Thanks.

September is Sweet!

Friday, Sept 17

We will be at Patches this Friday night, Sept 17! Drink and Food Specials from one of our special places. We will start at 5:30, you know parking can be tough there so you may want to get there early.

Highway Cleanup!

On Saturday, Sept. 25, at 9:30 am, we will meet at the Barefoot Hide-Away Grill. We will have vests, bags, and picker-uppers all ready to go. We will split up, half of us go one way and the other half the other way. Then we will figure out where to go for morning beverages. We haven’t done this in a while so it is time to do our part to help our little piece of paradise be just a little cleaner. Looking forward to it!!!

Oct 1 Treat!

And here’s a treat for us—we don’t get to have Gene at our meetings too often, because he is so darn busy, but Friday, Oct 1 at the No Name Lounge Gene Mitchell will be Trop Rockin us! Gene is as Trop Rock as it gets and you know he has catalog of songs–like 20 different albums–and they are all well recorded, well written, and well played. Great to have Gene playing for us!!!

From the Office of the President

Gosh I am having fun at our gatherings. Thankful for all of you who come, hang out, listen to music, dance, enjoy and donate. We made it to September. Those of you who migrated from the North may associate this month with cooler temperatures. What I have learned is that down here in Panama City September means: less tourists, SEC football and about 6 more weeks of hurricane season.

We had a great summer of attendance and membership. Our July meeting at Dat Cajun Place was the largest gathering we’ve had in a while. And I don’t know about you, but I am really enjoying our home port at No Name Bar. It’s a great venue, rain or shine and they have always set us up such a nice private hideaway. For those who attended the bowling event it was great fun. Even if you are not a bowler, this was a fun event. It’s a great way to get to know club members. We will do it again. So think about coming next if you want to “Strike out” in a new direction or have “time to spare.” You get to knock down pins and yet don’t have to memorize your PIN. So get your minds and balls out of the gutter and fall in league with the best. (Sorry, I know that hurt.)

Hey do you remember when we all swore in as Parrot Heads, that we volunteered to “do stuff?” Well we are asking you now to volunteer for a new means of giving back to the community. We hope to get enough volunteers to drive for Meals on Wheels. This is a huge way to give to yourself, by helping others. And believe me, some of us who are growing older but not up, might be using this program in the next decade or so.

Susan Toft has graciously offered to run this program for our club. In order for the program to be successful, we need plenty of people. With a large group of volunteers Susan can set up a rotation that allows all of us to participate without burning out. More people mean we can enjoy this service to others but still have the flexibility to do all the other stuff that life. But in order to make it a success, we need volunteers like YOU Brenda Brewer!

  1. If you are interested please contact Susan Toft via phone or text. She will need your:Availability: Yes I want to participate. Tell me more details.
  2. Your desired frequency: 1 day/week, 1 day per month etc.
  3. Best Day and Time: For example: Wednesday am is my best time, OR Anytime you need as long as I can plan a little in advance.
  4. Best way to contact you: voice, text, email, facebook messenger, COCONUT TELEGRAPH.

Please give Susan an email at susan.j.toft@gmail.com and she will begin to set this up.  This will be something we can be proud of at the end of our year Phriends. Party with a purpose.  Looking forward to seeing you at the phlockings.  Ain’t it great to be a Parrot Head?

Halloween Party, Oct 15

And our Halloween party–always a great one–will be at Hanger 67 on Thomas Drive, Friday, October 15. No costume theme this year, just be your normal creative self!! We will have a costume contest and other things going on too. The entertainment will be ________ all the way from Michigan!!! Drink Specials and Food Specials via Busters! yes–MORE BUSTERS BUCKS!!!!
