PCPHC – PARROTHEAD DOG DAYS OF SUMMER EVENTS and one cancellation

August 6, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Reminder we will be at the No Name this Friday, August 6, starting at 5:30 with BT Turner.  BT hails out of Destin and is a regular ECPHC musician.  Lots of fun to listen to!

Since this is our new Home Port, they have moved us over under the big tent where they will have plenty of tables for us to sit. We will surely have a good time, play some games, and enjoy each other’s company!  See you at the No Name Friday!

Bad News:  The Tallahassee Phrenzy has been postponed due to the Covid 19 Delta Variant Spike in Leon County.  At the request of they Charity Board and their largest sponsor, they decided it was the right thing to do.  The Board of Directors continues to look at our own practices in depth.
  • Keeping all of us safe enough to see many more trips around the sun is our priority.
  • We get reporting from all the Florida Clubs.  Most of them continue to schedule events, but the summertime focus is for outside events.  Most of our events are being scheduled for the outside.
  • Several of our own club members have had Covid, and even if you aren’t hospitalized it is a nasty disease.
  • This is Florida, and we will watch the guidance put out by our State and Local governments concerning meetings. So keep watching these pages.
  • We don’t care where you personally stand on getting the vaccination, but we encourage all ya’ll to get the vaccine.  That should help us take care of ourselves and each other.

Good News:

  • At this time, we are not restricting any planned activities.
  • We are still planning for Rendezvous 2022.
Dates to remember:
  • Sunday, August 29 – Bowling at Rockit Lanes, 1:30 pm.  We haven’t been bowling in a while and it’s always a fun time.  No pressure, no skill required, just come out and have fun with us!
  • Saturday, Sept 25 – Adopt a mile clean up.  Another duty of ours that needs doing, we will meet at Barefoot Hideaway Grill at 9:30 that morning, walk about a mile in one direction or the other, and then meet SOMEWHERE for morning libations afterward.  We will figure out the final destination, but let’s go do our duty and help leave the place in a little better shape than we found it.
  • Saturday, Oct 9 – Pirates of the High Seas parade at Pier Park —-ASSUMING—that we have our float repaired by then.  The float needs some serious attention, as it has sat out in the weather all year long, for about 5 years now.  The plan is for it to be ready to roll by then.

We are definitely in the dog day’s of summer so it is appropriate that our designated charity this month is Heartland Animal Rescue.  We will collect money from the 50/50 drawing on Friday 6th meeting, and hope to collect food and other dog/cat related things on August 20th.

Safe Phlocking:  Keeping our phlock safe is an important consideration for the Board.  We had all anticipated that with the advent of the vaccination, that Covid 19 was going to be so….well so 2020.  And it looks the delta variant is surging again.  We members of the board are following all guidance from State and Local agencies.  We intend to keep meeting outdoors to the maximum extent.  We still encourage everyone to  please get vaccinated.  But we recognize that vaccination is voluntary.  We just don’t want to lose any of our folks due to lack of a VAXX.

“Phixing the Phloat.” Pat Hart is working on our float for the upcoming parades.  Many of you may have noticed the smell of smoke and burned bearings on our last outing.  Our trailer is getting new wheel bearings and new tires.  And we are even giving it a little facelift as we move from Mardi Gras to Pirate Parade.  Stand by for more.

Finally for potential volunteers.  The best way to get to know the club is to volunteer for something.  Several folks have already approached me….and we are going to be putting you all to good use.

Well that is all I can think of for now.  See you at the next phlocking this Friday.

Geno

We hope to sign the contract for Rendezvous 2022 this week, and then we will be off to the races!!  Rendezvous is our Super Bowl, and we look to have the best yet!  Be watching email and Facebook for updates!
