First things first: Thank you to all those who participated in the recent elections. Our goal is to build on the excellent work done by our previous board and bring forth new ideas and enthusiasm. The outgoing board has been very helpful to us, giving us guidance and advice on how to move forward. There are a lot of things we still don’t know, and it’s going to take a little while to get our feet on the ground.
One thing has become abundantly clear to us: there are a lot of tasks and activities involved with running this club and we need your help. When we gather at No Name this week, the new board members will be circulating the venue, introducing themselves and asking each of you if you have a skill set that would be beneficial to the club and if you would be willing to volunteer to help out. We need help with communications, merchandise sales, identifying charities, getting our float ready for the Pirate Parade and Mardi Gras Parade, organizing a Halloween Party and the Christmas Party. Is there an event or activity you have participated in that you would like to see changed or improved in some way? Is there an activity that we don’t currently do, but you would like to see us do? Is there a charity that you are involved with, and wonder if the Parrot Heads could help that organization?
Do you know a musician or group you would like see at one of our phlockings? And of course, there is Rendezvous. We will need lots of help with Rendezvous – hospitality, baskets, raffle items, sponsors, and security to name a few. Thank you in advance for your support. Ain’t it great to be a Parrot Head!
