PCPHC – MARCH EVENTS AND MORE!

March 3, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

It’s our Birthday! Golf!
Lots of things Going on!
This email is specifically written for all ParrotHeads , (but can be forwarded to anybody).
Yes about 20 years ago, a few folks in Panama City heard that in Destin they had a Parrot Head Club. At that time, the PHIP rules were that you could not have two clubs within 90 miles of each other. (This is all second–third–and fourth hand knowledge I am sharing) But after some haggling with PHIP they realized that 90 miles is a long way to go to a meeting and then drive home, so PHIP determined it was okay for Panama City to have a club, as well as Emerald Coast (Destin). So this small handful of folks started the Panama City Parrot Head Club. When you talk to some of those old timers who are still around, they will tell you the first several years weren’t real organized. There are stories of Board Members taking dues money, infighting, and just not an organized club. In 2009 a set of bylaws were written. They stand today. They have been updated, and changed occasionally to fit the times. We follow MOST of those bylaws today. There are a few that are in there that haven’t been followed in years though, through no fault of anyone, just a desire to keep things simple. You can find those bylaws on the website fyi. Anyway over the last 12-14 years the club has been run relatively professionally, our number of members has ebbed and flowed. Right now we are in a growth spurt. Latitude Margaritaville has given us many new members and the make up of the club is changing–in a great way! We know with all these new members it is getting close to “changing of the guard” and in April we will open up Board of Director positions for the next year–be thinking about it–the same few folks can’t always be the ones to do it. We look forward to some new folks on the BOD, new ideas, new ways of looking at things. All with the same motto – “Party with a Purpose”!!
Happy birthday Panama City Parrot Head club!!
We will be celebrating our 20th Birthday this Friday night at the No Name with Salt Rock. We have a cake coming, and what’s a birthday without–PRESENTS!! We would like everyone to purchase a toy–a child’s toy not an adult toy–(I knew you were thinking that). A toy for a child up to 12 years old. These toys will be donated to Kid’s Kloset in Lynn Haven, so the toys will go to a good place and will get in the hands of kids that need them.
As well, our main charity for the night is Beach Care Services, from their website:
“Our mission is to provide short-term emergency assistance to people who live or work on Panama City Beach and when they require long term or specialized assistance refer them to other social service agencies. We are “Locals Helping Locals.”
On a side note, one of the managers or owners of Beach Care Services is part manager of one of the Newby’s. So the baskets, I am guessing, will have alcohol involved. So please bring a toy on Friday night and let’s have a great birthday party at the No Name!
NOTE: we are now at 412 members. Woohoo!
 ALERT!
It’s go time for Rendezvous, and we need liquor. We need that special bottle of liquor you saw in the store the other day. It needs to be $20 or more in value. Mini bottles are needed too–those can go in any basket. Our team is hard at work now creating baskets and we need good liquor for baskets and for Cork Pull.
PLEASE BRING TO THE MEETING ON FRIDAY AT No Name at 5:30 PM!
We have hit the maximum number of registrations for Rendezvous, so we have turned registration off–we did this in February folks. We have never turned off before April 1 but the demand was there for the best event out there, our own Parrot Head Rendezvous. Day passes will be available at the event for $60 Friday and $60 Saturday.
Rendezvous lineup, in order from Thursday through Sunday:
THURSDAY, APRIL 20

Jonas Lawrence Band
FRIDAY, APRIL 21

And of course our “one of a kind” Wednesday pre-party will be hosted by Jeff and the Camaros!
Both Friday and Saturday will feature the 11 pm All Star Jam, which have become legendary!
GOLF:
The other night our charity was the Florida Panhandle Golf Therapy Alliance. They have a golf tournament on Friday March 10, and our club is going to be a sponsor! It’s at Bay Point. We need volunteers! From 6 am – 3 pm we have be stationed at one of holes. We are just now putting this together, Jerry Swank is the point person on this. If you have any questions contact Jerry at Beachbum750@gmail.com (or reply to this email and I will give you Jerry’s telephone number, I got it off the wall at Stingray’s the other night).
If we can come up with 4 people who want to play and who can pay $150 a person, we can put together a Parrot Head Golf team–we would love to do this, but we need 4 folks who can pay and play. Bay Point is a tough course–at one point it had the highest Slope rating in the country (that measurement is how hard the course is to play, roughly).
As you can see, we have a LOT going on. Please volunteer for the Golf event and Wed, Thurs, and Sunday Rendezvous duty.
Finally, remember our online store:
You can get all kind of stuff here, even Rendezvous 2023 gear, make sure you check it for t-shirts, hats, most everything!
